A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MAINTENANCE TEAM MEMBER AT CROWNE PLAZA READING
What you'll be doing...
Reporting to the Maintenance Director, you can expect your working day to include the following.
- Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs of various hotel including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
- Implement and adhere to a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
- Respond to guest requests and work orders related to room repairs, such as fixing leaky faucets, changing light bulbs, repairing minor electrical issues, and resolving HVAC problems.
- Comply with all safety standards and regulations, ensuring that equipment and facilities meet safety codes and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with other hotel staff and management to coordinate maintenance efforts and address ongoing concerns.
- To liaise with external Service Engineers with regard to breakdowns and schedule services as necessary, and pick up as much background information on the problems in order to further develop personal skills.
- To have a full understanding of all hotel systems and be able to act accordingly to any problems.
- To liaise fully with all departments with regards to maintenance, especially Housekeeping, Leisure and food production areas.
- To ensure all work carried out within the department is carried out safely without risk to health, in line with statutory/company policies.
- To ensure any work by outside contractors is carried out to the specifications and standard required.

To succeed in the role of Maintenance Team Member, you will need the following qualities and skills.
- Excellent communication skills
- Relevant experience in property maintenance or building trades.
- Excellent relationship building and rapport building skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
